THE WORLD'S FIRST MOBILE SOL AR POWERED CINEMA
Hes Fes, The home educators seaside festival
in Charmouth Dorset, kicked off our season for 2005. Over 1000 young people
who, for various reasons are educated at home, or out of the usual school
system, congregated on a campsite near the sea for a week of workshops,
activities, music and fun. The
Groovy Movie Picture House screened a kids film each afternoon, plus documentaries
such as From The Heart of the World, by Alan Erira, about the Kogi tribe
of South America. Late shows for the older crowed included the first screening
of the Mark Thomas Live video.
The Groovy Movie Picture House also ran
digital video making workshops to introduce some of the young people to
filming and editing using digital equipment. A film about the event was
shot and edited over the week and screened as a finale.
As the rain lashed down and the field
turned to thick clay mud, The Groovy Movie Picture House provided a home
for a number of workshops, musicians and performers. On the last night we
were joined by the Rinky-Dink Pedal Powered Sound System for an after hours
party. A heady mix of live and recorded musical clips as our video cabaret
combined the talents of Hattie Hatstar, Mike Cupcake and the Rinky-Dink
Band.
