Solar Cinema Ruigoord Landjuweel Festival

In August, the Groovy Movie Picture House set off for Europe. Every year we do a short tour in Holland, and this year we returned to the Ruigoord Landjuweel Festival for the Ninth year running. Ruigoord is a community of young and old artists from all over the world, and the Landjuweel festival is their big celebration of the year. The event is chock full of bizarre arts - performances, theatre, processions, fire shows, lots of live music and all night dancing, with a fantastic, friendly underground atmosphere. The Groovy Movie Picture House ran all night every night, screening an eclectic mix of independent films, funny shorts, vintage musical clips, mashups, remixes and documentaries. We also carried on our Ruigoord tradition of filming atmospheric highlights of the event, and performing our own brand of "live A/V Editing", cutting, looping and manipulating the footage with a live mixed soundtrack infront of an astounded audience.

Live entertainment in the Groovy Movie Solar Cinema at the Ruigoord Landjuweel Festival was provided by Legendary Dutch Protest singer Armand. Armand began his career in the mid sixties, and had a huge hit single which has remained an anthem for the Dutch for decades. Armand still keeps up a busy touring schedule, and his concerts mix songs, stories, humour and flamboyant smoking. The Groovy Movie Picture House is one of his favorite venues to play.
